Kathy can create a very special culinary event for your small private group. Events can be held at her home in Newburyport, MA - or at your home in either the North Shore area in MA or in the Boulder, CO area.
Kathy is a trained chef, food blogger, and certified Italian Wine Professional. She specializes in the regional cuisines and traditional dishes of Italy. She also leads active gourmet tours in Italy where our guests explore the countryside by bike or foot, feasting on regional dishes and visiting local producers as we travel. Kathy uses her first-hand expertise to bring a bit of her Italy adventures to your private event.
- Private Italy themed dinners - 4 courses featuring the regional cuisines of Italy, paired with native wines
- Hands-on Cooking classes - Each cooking class is hands-on, and includes recipes, instruction, all ingredients, and a wonderful dinner for all to enjoy at the end of the evening!
- Italian Wine Evenings - paired with antipasti. Any theme, from an introduction to Italian Wines, to a tasting of a particular region.
Perfect for groups of friends or a family special occasion celebration. All types of menus are available, with options to accommodate any allergies or dietary restrictions.
Example Classes:
Gnocchi: we learn how to make different gnocchi, a specialty of Northeastern Italy. Gnocchi gratin, gnocchi with prosciutto, montasio cheese and poppy seeds, and a gnocchi stuffed with cheese and pan fried. We enjoy this along with a salad and a wonderful dessert
Risotto: Another classic dish of Northeastern Italy, which can be prepared so many different ways! Risotto with Smoked Salmon and Prosecco, and Risotto with Radicchio and Gorgonzola. Rounded out with a salad and dessert.
Sample menu: Subject to change, based on season. I used locally grown products whenever available.
Selection of Antipasti: Kathy's home smoked salmon, cheeses, meats, and a few surprises
Salad: Local greens with radicchio, prosciutto 'chips' and pine nuts
Main Course: Local beef, braised in red wine, served with creamy polenta and roasted local vegetables
Dessert: Ricotta cake with locally made ricotta, with honey roasted pears, almonds, and grappa mascarpone cream
